Acura Lane Keeping Assist System

 Acura Lane Keeping Assist System

With our showroom and service centre in Mississauga, Erin Mills Acura takes pride in being the preferred authorized Acura dealer for our hometown and the cities of Toronto, Oakville and Brampton. A key reason for our enthusiasm is the AcuraWatchâ„¢ safety suite standard on every new Acura SUV and sedan.

Key Acura Safety Feature: The Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)

How a Lane-Keeping Assist System Works

Lane Keeping Assist System automatically activates at highway driving speeds of 70 kilometres per hour or above. Using a forward-facing camera located above your Acura's rear-view mirror, LKAS scans the painted lane markers on the road ahead. If you start to stray from the center of the lane, the system applies gentle torque to the steering wheel to help you realign your vehicle.

Keep in mind that (LKAS) is not a substitute for maintaining your attention on the road. Also, the system will not engage if lane markings are faded or covered with snow.

Lane-keeping assist systems serve as driving aids. You are always in control of your vehicle's steering and able to override a system's input.

Using Line Keeping Assist System With Your Acura

The Lane Keeping Assist System quickly engages or disengages with a press of your right thumb on the steering wheel's (LKAS) button. With the system on, the easy-to-read (LKAS) symbol between your tachometer and speedometer switches from outlined lane markers to filled-in white indicators.

Acura's Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) supplies a gentle torque to the steering wheel to center the vehicle. Unlike many other systems, Acura's LKAS performs this function with exceptional smoothness and does not bounce you from side to side in your lane. That advancement in technology is a point of pride for AcuraWatchâ„¢ engineers and another compelling reason to become an Acura owner.

If you steer your Lane Keeping Assist System equipped Acura out of a detected lane without signalling, the system sounds an audio alert and displays a message in the Multi-Information Display. Operating the turn signal lever silences the warning.
